Quakers Get Road Win, 5-3
|
Hollywood shortstop Juan Martínez was sensational. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Philadelphia beat the Stars, 5-3. Martínez was named the player of the game despite the loss. John Riley picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Júlio Román was tagged with the loss. The Quakers now have a record of 28-33.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Roberto Salinas to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Quakers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
Salinas told a Philadelphia Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
