Stars Come Back Late to Clip Oaks
|
The Hollywood Stars downed the Oakland Oaks, 7-6, at Gilmore Field. Juan Martínez led the way, going 3-for-4 for Hollywood. Hollywood reliever Dave Allen picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Siu-chung Lam shouldered the loss. Darren Frazier was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 31 of 32 save opportunities.
Martínez had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 fastball from Siu-chung Lam, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Stars a 7-5 lead. It was the 31st double of the year for Martínez.
"Nervous? No," said Martínez. "It was my time to shine."
Oakland, at 54-82, has lost 7 straight.
