Bayou Rats Turn Back Hollywood, 6-5
|
The Houston Bayou Rats beat the Hollywood Stars, 6-5, at The Rats' Nest. Houston left fielder Steven Howell earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Emílio Guerra picked up the save, his 11th. Houston goes to 37-12. The win puts them 6½ games up in their division.
Jorge Reyna, who is tied for 9th in the GL with a .931 OPS, helped out the Houston cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the first baseman was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"Enjoyed this one," Howell told the Houston Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
