Victory Pushes Padres Record to 32-31
|
The San Diego Padres saddled the Miami X Giants with a loss at PETCO Park. The final score was 8-5. Ward Wallace, named player of the game, was 2 for 4, including 1 single and 1 home run. The San Diego center fielder scored 1 run and drove in 4. San Diego reliever Gabriel Salinas was the winner. His record is now 6-5. Mark Floyd took the loss. The Padres bumped their record to 32-31 with this latest triumph.
Wallace had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Harold Borghini, he banged a grand slam home run to right-center, giving the Padres a 8-4 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Wallace.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Wallace. "More importantly, I had a good game."
