Pilots Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Fans who congregated at Monster Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Seattle Pilots overcame a good performance by Oakland center fielder Wilfred Richter to knock off Oakland, 7-6, at Monster Park. Richter went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Seattle reliever Austin White picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Siu-chung Lam was saddled with the loss.
The Pilots got a big at-bat from left fielder Okitsugu Ito. For the game, Ito went 3 for 6 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the 11th, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 10th hit of the season gave Seattle a 7-6 lead.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Richard Long, the Seattle skipper. "This one tested us."
The win takes Seattle to 4-4.
