Pilots Turn Back St. Louis, 8-6
|
St. Louis got a terrific game from right fielder Richard Myers. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Seattle, 8-6. Myers was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Michaël Cyr picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 11-13. Ben Hernández got the save, his 24th in 33 chances.
Early in the game, second baseman Mike Teeters had a grand slam home run for Seattle. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Pilots on top, 6-3.
"We take it day by day here," said Teeters, "and today was a good one for us."
The Pilots, at 74-67, sit in 4th place in the Division 1.
