Quakers Come Back Late to Top Bayou Rats
The Philadelphia Quakers defeated the Houston Bayou Rats, 3-1, in Gehrig League action at The Rats' Nest, with Philadelphia pitcher Ron Stephens named player of the game. Rubén Martínez recorded the save for Philadelphia, his 2nd of the season. Losses have been few and far between for the Bayou Rats so far this season. Their record drops to 20-7.

Had Jorge Aguilar not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Aguilar hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Quakers.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Philadelphia manager Ken Samurakami. "It's usually not just one thing."
