Bayou Rats Prevail, 6-4, Over Hollywood
|
The Houston Bayou Rats knocked off the Hollywood Stars, 6-4, at The Rats' Nest. Josh Simpson, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Houston won. The second baseman went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Emílio Guerra was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 29 of 32 save opportunities. Houston improves to 78-40 with the win. They lead their division by 9½ games.
Simpson had a key at-bat for Houston early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 23rd home run of the season and gave Houston an early 2-0 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Simpson told the Houston Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
