Superbas Win at Houston, 5-4
|
The Brooklyn Superbas did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Houston Bayou Rats at The Rats' Nest. Nobody did more than pitcher Robert Rogers, who captured player of the game honors. Rogers picked up the win for Brooklyn, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 6-14. Brooklyn, now 57-75, holds 5th place in the Division 1.
Brooklyn used the bat of Mike Sullivan to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Superbas ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It feels good to get this one," Sullivan told the Brooklyn News.
