Reyes Selected 2033 GL Most Valuable Player Award

Diego Reyes of the Houston isn't just a strong veteran presence in New Federal Baseball League. He's also one of the league's top players.

At the age of 37, the third baseman has been named the recipient of the Gehrig League Most Valuable Player Award for 2033.

"At my age you sometimes think of possibly retiring, I'm sure glad I didn't," he said.

On the season, the Bayamo, Cuba native hit .339 and got on base at a .395 clip. He hit 52 home runs as well as 133 runs batted in and 115 runs scored.

He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Josh Simpson of the Houston Bayou Rats finished second in voting, while Alan Colson of the Brooklyn Superbas finished third.
